The two kinds of cookie we use

Essential cookies keep the site working: remembering the cookie choice you made, and protecting our forms from spam. These do not need your consent, because the site cannot work without them. They are always on and cannot be switched off.

Analytics cookies (Google Analytics) help us understand, in the aggregate, how the site is used: which pages are read, and where visitors arrive from. These are off by default. They load only if you accept them. Until you do, no analytics cookie is set and nothing is measured.

That is the whole list. We do not use advertising cookies, social-media tracking cookies, or any other tracker.

How choosing works

On your first visit, a banner asks you to choose. Until you choose, only essential cookies exist, and Google Analytics has not loaded.

  • If you accept analytics, your choice is stored, Google Analytics loads, and its cookies are set.
  • If you choose essential only, your refusal is recorded, Google Analytics never loads, and no analytics cookie is set. Refusing is exactly as easy as accepting, and it costs you nothing: the site works the same either way.

Your choice is remembered in the essential consent cookie, so the banner does not reappear on your next visit.

You can change your mind at any time, in either direction. Withdrawing your consent stops the analytics from that point on; giving it loads them. To reopen the choice:
